A police inspector, Israel Amuwa, has been stabbed to death with a fork by his lover, identified as Wumi after a minor disagreement. Amuwa, who was attached to 17 Mopol squad, was allegedly stabbed in the neck.
The incident occurred at the Olu foam area of Akure, Ondo State capital. Residents wondered what might have caused the disagreement between the two lovers.
The remains of the late police inspector have been deposited at the morgue of a private hospital in Akure. A source said the deceased and Wunmi met shortly after he lost his wife, adding that they always had disagreement. The suspect was said to have confessed that she stabbed the deceased in self-defence.
Chairman of Ayegbaju Resident Association, Taiwo Owanikin, said there were conflicting reports on what really transpired, describing the incident as shocking.
State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect was now already providing useful information.
