UEFA President, Michel Platini has vowed to 'restore the lost dignity' of world football after announcing that he will run for the FIFA presidency in February next year.
The Frenchman has confirmed his candidacy to replace outgoing FIFA boss Sepp Blatter, who will step down following the recent crisis which has engulfed the world football body.
Platini has written to all 209 member associations of FIFA to inform them of his intention to stand.
The FIFA presidential election will take place at an extraordinary congress in Zurich on February 26 next year.
