Barcelona FC and Argentinian football star, Lionel Messi has won the 2015 FIFA Ballon d’Or award.
The talented footballer defeated Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and club mate, Neymar to clinch his 5th win as the world football king.
After receiving the award, Messi said ‘It’s a very special moment for me, winning another Ballon d’Or after being in the audience watching Cristiano win the last two years. I want to thank all who voted for me and my teammates who without none of this would be possible.’
‘It’s incredible this is my fifth. It’s much more than anything I’ve dreamed of as a kid. I want to thank football for everything it has brought me – both bad and good, it has helped me grow. Thank you’, he continued.
The FIFA Awards ceremony held in Zurich, Switzerland with Barcelona’s coach, Luis Enrique also walking away with the FIFA Coach of the Year award.
Carli Lloyd also won the award for the Women Player of the year, defeating Aya Miyama and Celia Sasic.
