The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase has
requested for assistance of the United Nations for the Force to end the fight
against terrorism.
He spoke when the Deputy Executive Director of the United
Nations Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate, Weixiong Chen, visited him at
the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
A statement yesterday by the force spokesperson, Olabisi
Kolawole, said Arase identified capacity building, International Police
cooperation and coordination of operational activities of all law enforcement
agencies with a counter-terrorism mandate as impetus needed to put an end to
terrorism.
Chen promised that the needs of the Force will be channelled
to the United Nations.
