Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday charged lawyers in the service of Federal Capital Territory Administration(FCTA) to live up to the onerous responsibility of ensuring that the administration runs smoothly within the law.
He equally said issues of compensation to the original inhabitants, removal of illegal structures, general development control, massive infrastructural developments, provision of social services like schools and hospitals, as well as general land administration must be situated with extant laws using the traditional contract model as well as the new public private partnership approach.
The vice president spoke in his goodwill message at the retreat of lawyers in the service of the Federal. Capital Territory administration held in Abuja.
Represented at the event by Mr. Ade Ipaye, Osinbajo told the lawyers that "your task is undoubtedly herculean, but I have no doubts in my mind that you have the potential to tackle some proficiently.
That you are on a retreat to restructure, re-engineer, refocus and redirect the Legal Services Secretariat as contained in the letter of invitation I received from Permanent Secretary, FCT Eng. John Chuckwu is a clear indication on your resolve to deliver on your assignment.
