In compliance with the directive of labour leaders in the state, workers in the public service of the Ondo State Government this Wednesday began a two-day warning strike to press home their demand for payment of their salary arrears.
However, the State Government described the strike as an embarrassment to the government and an unpatriotic act on the side of the workers since they have started receiving the July salaries on Tuesday evening.
On getting to the State Secretariat, Alagbaka, gates to all ministries were locked.
To ensure total compliance, labour leaders, who assembled as early as 7:00am at the Ministry of Finance, moved from one premises to the other.
Since the notice of the warning strike was well circulated, government offices were virtually empty as workers shunned their duty posts.
