The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Muiz Banire, has faulted a publication on August 18, 2015 titled: "Lagos: PDP Accuses APC of Manipulating Tribunal."
In a letter from his solicitors, M. A. Banire and Associates, and signed by one Mutiu Olaoye, Banire described the said publication as injurious to his personality and a calculated attempt by the writer to lower his reputation before the legal community and right-thinking members of society.
He said since the publication, he had been bombarded with queries and scathing remarks from his friends and associates.
The APC chieftain said there was no time he engaged in the frivolous and vexatious judicial processes to harass anybody as claimed in the story.
He noted that the publication had caused some of his associates to express fears of undue stigmatisation by unwary members of the public.
Banire noted that the APC respects the judiciary and would not do anything to tarnish the revered institution.
He wondered why the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would approach the tribunal with a petition if it did not believe in the judiciary.
