At least seven victims dead during Adamawa flood incident Adamawa State, North Eastern Nigeria with farm produce worth millions of Naira destroyed.
According to officials of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), flood as at the last count, submerged 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Head of Service, Major Belwa Local Government Area of the State, Iliyasu Baba told that the recent flood witnessed in the area claimed Three lives.
Baba said residents of the affected communities need urgent assistance from the state Government, stressing that the local council on its part had put machinery in motion to bring succour to the victims.
He explained that five communities had earlier been submerged by flood following the recent opening of Kiri Dam in Shelleng Local Government Area of the State.
In his own view, Phineas .P. Elisha, the immediate past Director of Public Affairs to former governor Bala James Nggilari, farmers in Girei Local Government Area of the state have been the worst hit, their produce worth millions of Naira swept away.
Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) Hamman Haruna Furo confirmed the killing of four persons, including, a nursing mother and her child by floods in the Mubi area of the state.
He assured that the state government was doing its best to alleviate the sufferings of the people and offer them protection against floods.
Commissioner of Information, Comrade Ahmed Sajoh urged people living in flood prone areas to relocate to the hinterland for their own good.
Presently some of the Displaced flood victims are now living within school premises in some affected local government areas of the state.
