The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar 111, Monday declared Tuesday, September 15 as the first day of Zulhijja,1436 AH while the eid-el-kabir will hold on September 24, 2015.
This was contained in a statement signed by Sa'idu Maccido on behalf of the Chairman, Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Prof. Sambo Junaid, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Sokoto.
Consequently, the Eid-el-Kabir is to be celebrated in Nigeria on Thursday, September 24, 2015, which is equivalent to 10th Zulhijja, 1436 AH, the statement said.
The statement said the committee in conjunction with the National Moon Sighting committee did not receive any reports from various moon sighting committees across the country confirming the sighting of the new Moon of Zulhijja, 1436 AH, on Sunday, 13th September 2015, which was the 29th day of Zulki'ida 1436 AH.
