The US congress members, led by Darrell Issa at a press conference on Tuesday, August 4, in Abuja reiterated the United States willingness to collaborate with Nigeria in combating regional terrorism, insecurity and promoting human rights related issues.
In a chat with Naij.com, Ms Bukky Shonibare, a Strategic Team member and Coordinator of Adopt-A-Camp speaks on the struggle to put pressure on the Nigerian government and indeed the international community to find and rescue the girls.
Read the interview below:
The U.S Congressional delegates (CODEL) at a press conference yesterday commended efforts of the Bring Back Our Girls Abuja family. How will this public commendation help in the struggle to find the kidnapped Chibok girls?
While the public commendation by the CODEL is encouraging, it is noteworthy that it is yet another coming from non-Nigerian supporters of the #BringBackOurGirls course. We have received such both from within and outside, and I believe this will further boost the morale of the campaigners especially as the struggle has lingered longer than expected, thereby, expectedly, causing lethargy among some members. The public commendation is also a further indication that, although, the pressure has nosedived in the international scene, there are some people – in Nigeria and outside, still standing and advocating for the cause of the Chibok girls.
