Former Speaker , Ekiti State House of Assembly , Hon Femi Bamisile, has said that the All Progressives Congress would not rely on federal might to defeat Governor Ayodele Fayose in 2018 governorship poll.
Bamisile, who had declared his intention for the governorship seat , said the party would embark on serious and widespread mobilisation drives to canvass for votes, for easy ride to victory.
Though, Fayose is serving second term, his successor would rely on his political prowess to win the election.
Speaking Friday during a courtesy call on the State Working Committee with his campaign team , Bamisile dispelled the insinuation that the party was factionalised.
The Ex-Speaker restated that the various groups existing in the party were normal in every opposition party, assuring that all would subsume into one, once President Muhammadu appoints a Minister from the State.
“I am an experienced politician who had contested severally. I quite understood the imperativeness of starting a campaign early as an opposition and that is exactly what I am doing .
“We are not going to rely on President Buhari or federal might to win the coming governorship election. We have the capacity to defeat Fayose on our own.
“In the June 21, 2014 governorship election, we lost to PDP by over 80,000 margin. But in the presidential election, it reduced to about 50,000 despite that Fayose did not allow some of our members to campaign.
“With this, it was evident that the APC in Ekiti is very strong. I want to assure our leaders that we will win the next election convincingly. But we have to work seriously for it , so that we won’t disappoint President Buhari”, he said.
