Calls Received By U.N Over Allegations Of Sexual-abuses By CAR peacekeepers


    United Nations says it has received new disturbing allegations that peacekeepers in the Central African Republic sexually abused three young women.


United Natios spokeswoman Vanina Maestra-chi told reporters that the events took place in recent weeks, and the victims families made complaints to the mission, but stopped short of naming the nationality of the troops.

So far, there has been at least 57 claims of misconduct, 11 of which involve child sex abuse.

Only last week, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon fired MINUSCA's mission chief, Babacar Gaye over a string of allegations of child sex abuse and other misconduct by peacekeepers of the 12,000-strong force .
