Nigeria's foreign policy thrust to remain unchanged

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is not considering changing the direction of the country's foreign policy.

This was made known by the foreign ministry officials in a chat with the press.

The country had in the life of the former administration, adopted Trade Diplomacy in order to attract investments.

Nigeria's foreign policy thrust since independence in 1960 was focused mainly on the liberation of African countries from Western domination.

This role has earned the country its reputation and during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, government thought it was time for a shift in the country's policy thrust.

It adopted the Trade Diplomacy thrust to drive foreign investment in the country and the new government is going ahead with the policy

The volume of foreign investment went up as government signed new trade agreement with other countries.

This growth was cut short due to rising terrorists attacks in the North East

President Muhammadu Buhari has held talks with Western powers as well as neighbouring countries seeking their support in the fight against Boko Haram.
